It is rather strange, the media commotion surrounding Prince Bernhard’s NSDAP membership, which broke out after historian Flip Maarschalkerweerd found his membership card in the prince’s private archive. For it had been known since 1996 that the prince had been a NSDAP member as well as a SA and SS member.
